Apple released a few hours ago the first beta of the next version of iOS 10, a few days after released the official version on the market. IOS 10.1 brings, for now, some corrections and some minor adjustments in functionality.

One of the novelties introduced in this beta 1 iOS 10.1 is the new mode "Portrait" for the app Camera iPhone 7 Plus.

Registered developers can now download the new iOS version 10.1 beta from Apple Developer Center. According to Apple, it is planned to launch this public beta already tomorrow, Friday, so that beta testers can install and begin tweaking the next iOS 10

Apple bet more on the photo

One of the trends we have seen grow in recent years in the smartphone segment is the bet on the photo. Apple also strengthened its arguments in this area to enable the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with innovative attributes within the segment.

With this release, Apple also brings the "Portrait" feature, which adds diversity to users of iPhone 7 Plus when it comes to photography. This mode allows users to take advantage of the two chambers and create pictures with greater depth of field and blur effects in the back, making them more realistic with the interpretation of our gaze.

IOS 10 was described by Apple as the largest ever version of iOS, where the number of entered features broke all previous releases. A redesigned lock screen, the SIRI SDK that enables third party applications to control by voice from this Apple's assistant, a fully the reviewed Messages app, a Home button with more features and new jobs in the area of applications, are the guarantees to be more than 100 new discoveries in this version of iOS.

But it was no longer displayed the portrait functionality?

The "Portrait" mode for the camera of the iPhone 7 Plus, which was revealed in the last keynote, in fact did not appear in the official version of iOS 10 launched on the 13th of this month. Reportedly, it would not be ready yet.

The portrait mode is designed to mimic the type of depth of field images that can be achieved with DSLR quality machines. This mode highlights a subject in front of the image and blurs the background superficially, to increase the concentration in the photo key point.

To achieve this effect, which is also implicit in the way we humans see, the iPhone 7 Plus brings a processor that checks the scene where the cameras are pointing, using techniques developed to recognize people in the images, in order to highlight the "reason" principal without the blur, with the rest of the scene. After the software that Apple has developed to make this work, the processor creates a depth map of the image of the two cameras simultaneously, keeping people in focus of the moment captured in the photo.

According to TechCrunch, the portrait feature Apple was built on technology acquired from LinX company. The Portrait mode is using a 56 mm lens to capture the image as the wide-angle lens perspective gathers data to build depth map and dividing the image into layers.

This portrait mode appears along the ways that already exist: Video, Photo, Panorama, etc ... and brings the Live Preview option. As it is in beta, there are still details to adjust for the best result is not always achieved.

More versions beta ...

Taking advantage of this release, Apple also released a new version for the Apple Watch, the watchOS 3.1 beta 1, the new MacOS Sierra 10.12.1 Beta and still tvOS 10.0.1.
