Twitter is about to "change hands". And may fall in Google's hands

The sale of the microblogging platform may be closer than ever. This Friday, shares of Twitter skyrocketed to the highest values of the last two years, after several "celebrities" of the technological world have shown their interest.

The value of Twitter bonds rose 20% this morning after the US television station CNBC have advanced, citing unidentified sources, that several technology companies were interested in "lay hands" on the social network.

Apparently, an official purchase proposal can be presented very soon, at the latest by the end of the year.

The same sources suggest that among those interested are Google and Salesforce.com.

Statista data show that the basis of monthly active users Twitter has had serious difficulties in growing significantly. This is one of the reasons why the service tried to attract attention - and capital - technological giants.

Between the first quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2016, the basic monthly active users has remained stagnant at around 300 million, without any significant increase.

The social network of 140 characters has sought to win new users, without losing those who already have. A task in which it has not registered much success. In late August, for example, the company said it would begin paying 70% of the advertising revenue to video creators to present this content. A strategy that will serve to establish itself as a multimedia platform.
